Technical Marketing Leader

Drive the full spectrum of technical marketing, including competitive analysis, sales enablement, and technical content

We are building Redpanda, a real-time streaming engine for modern applications. Redpanda is used by Fortune 1000 enterprises pushing hundreds of terabytes a day, and by the solo dev prototyping a React application on her laptop. We go beyond the Kafka protocol into the future of streaming, with inline WASM transforms and geo-replicated hierarchical storage. Think of it as a data API platform that scales with you from the smallest projects to petabytes of data distributed across the globe. We are on a mission to enable every developer to supercharge their real-time applications.

In this role, we’re looking for a process-oriented technical marketer to help build the function for Redpanda. Reporting to the VP Marketing, you will be the first technical marketing hire, and have the opportunity to influence the technical marketing function at the grassroots level, across win-loss analysis, competitive battlecards, POC enablement, sales training, technical whitepapers and the strategy for developer education.

You Will

  • Run a regular win-loss analysis process, build a repository of competitive intelligence, and be the go0-to source for competitive know-how within the company.

  • Support the field with the necessary enablement and tools they need to win deals.

  • Develop customer case studies and map them to repeatable use cases.

  • Build benchmarks and technical whitepapers in concert with our customer success team, to evangelize Redpanda.

  • Lead the charge on building a self-service university for Redpanda developers.

  • Assist with marketing efforts across the launch of new features and content including blogs, decks, campaigns, landing pages and website, as necessary.

You Have

  • 6+ years of experience in the technical marketing discipline for a cloud infrastructure, or distributed data solution.

  • Expertise in developing various technical sales tools (deep dive decks, battlecards, ROI calculators, architectural whitepapers, etc.)

  • Experience in delivering field training and helping create field enablement events.

  • Familiarity with benchmarking and the best practices therein to create credible reports.

  • Experience with customer marketing, and the ability to communicate effectively with a technical customer base.

  • Proficiency with spoken English, strong writing skills. Desire to create content and interest in channels for developer education.

  • Competitive personality, with the drive to win and the curiosity to dig into and pick apart competitor products in collaboration with the domain experts.

  • Computer science degree(s) with an MBA or equivalent experience.

  • Bonus points for experience with Kafka and its ecosystem.

  • Bonus points for public speaking experience and the desire to present in small and large groups, meetups and conferences.
